KIELER Meeting 2010-09-17

Attendees: msp, ckru, haf, bdu, chsch, mmu, nks, mhei, jjc

Textual Editing Presentation (chsch)

  • kits view is context sensitive and shows textual description of elements selected in the editor
  • changes in the textual view will be applied to the diagram after a short while
  • textual view works on own model copy for the selected elements
  • unwanted validation behavior, deactivate validation if not appliable (maybe task for soh)
  • chsch took font etc. from preference pages to use in the textual view
  • when selecting a single element, all elements of the region where the element is in are shown in the textual view
    • haf: maybe it would be nice if only the information regarding the selected element is shown
    • would be good for editing transition labels and signal declarations
    • maybe hover or tooltip editor for transitions and signals
    • chsch shows xtext editor which has hover editors
  • transitions have still some problems, sometimes don't appear, you'd have to edit something again to update the diagram
  • making of a video about textual editing would be great
  • copying graphical elements and past them textually in an editor would be a nice feature (see #1176)
  • connect textual editing and synchronization with viewmanagement
  • this should be presented to as much relevant people as possible
  • strange NullPointerExceptions? when clicking the root region
  • when a diagram is closed, the view isn't cleared (see #1177)
  • when selection is changed before changes in the textual view were applied, the changes are lost (see #1178)

EclipseCon?

  • haf: EclipseCon? paper was declined without reasons, maybe "only" auto-layout wasn't enough
    • put the many other nice features to the front in the future

Miscellaneous

  • maybe we could use mechanisms discovered by chsch to solve the CanonicalEditPolicy? problem for Papyrus to integrate KSBasE
  • Codereview for KViD (and evol) at Wednesday the 22 Semptember, 10 am (with msp, bdu and jjc)
