Agenda
- News on KWEBS (swe)
- Layout of Compound Graphs (ima)
News on KWEBS
- Integration into Layout Framework (Dortmund) is ongoing
- Integration is already tested
- Demonstration of some screen shots
- Labels and splines are not done yet
- Nodes and edges are integrated
- Only 1/2 a day of work for integration
- Neato-Layouter is used for data flow diagrams
- Discussion
- Performance is critical, measurement framework exists and should be used for evaluation (rvh)
- Sometimes exceptions occur
- 'Layout done in xx ms' should be displayed or this information should be made available also on the client side where the layout could be delayed by the network (rvh)
- Annotate the main node with time measurement information may be one option, another is a separate time request after layout is done
- KWEBS infrastructure is light weight
- Examples should be gathered to experiment and to tune the layout in Kiel (rvh)
Layout of Compound Graphs
- Approaches: Sander vs Sugiama
- Key ideas: Flat layout vs nested layout
- Structure should be kept, do not change changes
- => Sander (unless performance is not as good)
- Use dummy nodes to represent compound nodes
- Demo of Layout view
- Linear segment node placement
- Klay layered debug viewer
- Level crossing links
- Crossing two hierarchy levels? (rvh)
- Seems to be a problem when there are mixed transitions (1 and 2 layer crossing ones) (default2) (Ticket #1746)
- Other open topics:
- Missing constraint for cycles
- Enhancement of transition crossings (makes phase changes necessary)
