Topics for Upcoming Meetings
- Missing Ptolemy Classes (ckru)
- Should be talked about when cmot is around.
- Layout Aids (bdu)
- Should be talked about when msp is around.
- Another e-mail will be sent to have people think about this. (#1525)
Out of Context (rvh)
- The sync charts editor allows for labels to be displayed or hidden.
- rvh would like automatic layout to react to that. The layout should not leave enough place for labels when they are not shown anyway. (#1516)
Demo (uru)
- uru presents the Back Hoe model.
- There are two commands mapped to Cmd+R I. This should be fixed. (#1517)
- Layout sometimes fails to react to collapsing states. There already is a ticket for that.
- rvh suspects that backhoe-solution.strl (to be found in the models folder) might not be the correct model. Wants to check if that's indeed the case. (#1518)
- What method does uru use to find the most recently opened diagram? haf pressures him into using the methods he developed. (#1519)
- There are Xtext exceptions in the error log.
Tooling (cds)
- cds talks about tooling he has been developing.
- A command-line tool that extracts all Ptolemy demo models.
- A KIELER plugin for viewing the debug output produced by Klay Layered.
- There should instead be a unified interface for all algorithms to output intermediate results. A new viewer could be used to display those, automatically layouted. cds will add a Wiki page about his thoughts on this. (#1522)
- Such tools that may be of interest to others should be put into a new folder inside the trunk: tools. cds writes an e-mail about this. (#1523)
- Again, a discussion ensues about how to structure plug-ins.
- rvh proposes tagging projects according to their status. (experimental, stable, ...)
- haf opposes doing that with a simple folder structure in the SVN repository. Instead, he proposes project sets.
- Project sets, though, must be continuously managed.
- Project dependency management is mentioned.
- The discussion is then postponed. Since this is a complex issue, a task force is to be founded that produces a good solution once and for all.
- At least, the following people should be on the task force: haf, msp, chsch, cmot.
- cds will send an e-mail inviting those interested to join the task force. (#1524)
Bio Layout (rvh)
- Through Petra Mutzel, we may have gotten into contact with a biologist. Biologists obviously have fancy diagrams with lots of different formatting. We should at some point try to investigate if KIELER can be extended to support that kind of rich formatting.
