As a Virtual Presenter

As a first step make sure that you have the latest version of Zoom installed (currently 5.2.454870.0831).

We advise you to use a two-monitor setup while presenting with Zoom.

We continue to show different presentation scenarios and how they might work in Zoom.

When sharing your screen you are presented with several options:

Sharing a whole Screen

This shares everything on the screen (except for any Zoom windows if not enabled in the General Zoom Meeting Settings) which might be helpful for live demos.

  • Open Zoom
  • To go settings (cog-icon)
  • To go general and click View More Settings on the bottom
  • This will open the General Zoom Meeting Settings
  • Go to Disable Screen share for users and disable this option to allow sharing of a whole screen.

This sharing option is helpful if you plan to switch between different applications or if you want to have visible menus.

If you are only sharing the application pop-up menus or similar will not be visible to the audience.

Sharing a portion of your Screen

(you find this sharing option in the advanced tab)

See Sharing a whole Screen but only part of it is shared.

Sharing an Application

You are using a presentation software such as PowerPoint, libre office, any pdf reader, or similar.

  • Start your presentation
  • Share your Screen in Zoom and select the presentation window

If you are using PowerPoint you can also go to your slide show settings and change the presentation mode from Full Screen to Window. This allows you to still use your monitor and other applications since the presentation and Zoom do not block the full screen.

If you are using this sharing option you are able to still see your presentation notes while presenting (which are on the second monitor).

PowerPoint Presentation as Virtual background

(you find this sharing option in the advanced tab)

Zoom has the option to start your PowerPoint Presentation as a virtual background, which looks like this:

If you have a green screen, a homogeneous background, or similar available this allows you to be in the same picture as your presentation. Otherwise, you are only visible in the participants view.

Note that advanced PowerPoint features such as animations are not supported in this sharing method.

As a Physical Presenter

You do not need to be logged in to Zoom at all. We will be responsible to grab your screen and stream it via Zoom.

If you are using the presenter laptop provided by us you only have to start your presentation.
