Print a Dissertation

Conventions for printing/publishing a dissertation via print-on-demand publisher  http://www.lulu.com

  1. Lulu allows any copyright or license of the printed work, so no exclusive rights are granted to Lulu. Therefore a dissertation can be published on the  eldiss server of the university library first to fulfill publication requirements of the regulations.
  2. Use this common style for Latex
  3. Make sure to embed all fonts into the PDF file (required by publisher). Enable the corresponding option for pdflatex, or use ghostscript to embed missing fonts
gs -dBATCH -dNOPAUSE -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -dPDFSETTINGS=/printer -sOutputFile=out.pdf in.pdf

The printer option will cause the embedding of the fonts. Also ghostscript might give warnings about problems in the PDF. Take them serious to get no surprises when you look into your printed books later!
